melton This ep is such a dense journey, that's why I bought it, and because I dug Mr. Xylo's flow and that fine blend of psychedelic/soul/grime/unique artistry, whatever is going on here I won't bother to try to describe it here, it's a beautiful piece and it has been a blessing

wavypyramids It ends too soon! scott xylo is in a class all of his own. Simply beautiful, a masterful combination of many genres (jazz, blues, rock, classical, reggae, electronica, dub, DnB) it's blended together wonderfully to create this beautiful stew of sound. Favorite track: Shadow Sea (The Afterlife).

Melanin melancholy, my black skin dished me a deeper tragedy I can't breathe my lungs tight, it keep reminding me that I could die at any moment, I'm a victim, of a man made decision. I wasn't there to hear the Doctor tell my parents this is..not gonna end well for instance resistance is just futile in this world anyway , it's just gonna get you any Day, I feel hopeless, it's like my minds soaked in a black hole where the devil dishes omens. I'm winning when I'm fighting these drug habits, though I been a high functioning drug addict. Still I make the smile available when wall crashes, 4 around me my world remains a dull palace, cuz my imagination takes me out this box, I still cry at times for being dependent on the drugs, and my mum keep telling me that everything is God, then why He make me like this, why He give me this, why am I so capable but can't even resist, my body shuts down each every other day, why I still walk in pain even though I pray, and now I'm faced with these cross roads, choose Spiritual or choose the cold, I now before the Throne, tears creep down my eyes it's harder not to show. So many days of suffering it's harder not to woe, soon it's my time to go, I wouldn't change the pain cuz the pain gave me hope, loneliness gave me rope, I could have tied it round my neck but I didn't though, I threw it up to Heaven and now I need go, Climb

Pt1. Am I Alive.... Every time I reach I fall, There's no piece, there's no piece to put my hand on the wall, deep sea drowning me Am I Alive... Deep sea drowning me Am I Alive... Pt2. It goes 1 drown, 2 drown, 3 drown 4/ when I rose up I swam to the shore/ thought it was dream / pain and suffering I came out clean/ had to endure/ seen the the things I had to saw / its was all good/ good for the core/ I had to die/ now I love life more/ it's a cycle/ but you fight it like a war/ broken bones and burns/ seeing all.them scars that you learned/ scars that you earned/as I tell myself/ brotha stand tall/ take the right turn/ you was not lost/ you had to unlearn/ a loss ain't the end/ cause the spirit will return.

I’ve lived in this space This time and this race I’ve lived many lives Died many times Died many times These eyes on my face Where can I feel safe Give me a town Give me a name Give a me a sound Give me a day (Spoken word) So Ive left the sanctuary Sighs and breathe ins February I marched to the war outside Exhale my sleep-ins Migraines from lucid dreaming Different states Different dialogue They gave me another tongue To speak with One with the country Too many people Back in the sixties Living in excess So much to process Give me a potion Give me a potion Give me emotion Give me yeah Give me Give me a drop to keep the pain at bay

about

Scott Xylo revisits his high concept psychedelic world in Chapter Two: Death and Rebirth is the continuation and development of the characters and universe building of Chapter One: El Mago.

'While I was making the EP I wanted the sound and explore multiple genres to evolve with the character called the Space Wizard. I wanted to take the psychedelic approach in El Mago and make it more spiritual, progress the rock influences and make them more jazz inspired.'

Although esoteric & obscure Scott's worlds are built around a very personal themes engaging spiritual and emotional vulnerability. 'Being heavily influenced by DJ shadow and Don Cherry on this EP, I wanted to take the realms of trip hop and make it more spiritual and free. Blending samples and live instruments, while not restricting to any forms of traditional structure, I wanted this EP to feel like a progression through my own life, killing all of the darkness that was once in me and rebirthing myself from the ashes of my depression.'

As with previous transmissions Scott enlists an army of talented friends to join the party and harness their distinct energies for the pot. Below Scott breaks down the EP track by track:

'The EP starts with Death Of The Space Wizard, a dark melancholic jazz song with Udo talking about his morality, redemption and questions about his life which reflects on the Space Wizard's own life. At the end of the verse where Udo says the last words 'climb' the space wizard dies but when he dies he becomes free of all the darkness and demons that was pulling him down.' // 'In the second song Shadow Sea is my own interpretation of the afterlife for where the Space Wizard becomes reborn, the switching drum breaks and cycling of patterns was inspired by DJ Shadows break beat style and I wanted the listener to feel like they are travelling through the song like following the current from the sea. The lyric of 'am I alive' is the Space Wizard asking the question if he's still alive because he doesn't feel dead. The beat switches when the space wizard is reborn.' // 'Sanctuary is a feel good neo soul fusion vibe that takes you on a journey, I was inspired by a lot of spiritual jazz like Alice Coltrane and Michael White who also blending them with my influences of Flying Lotus and Thundercat in a new age experimental jazz fusion feel.' // 'Icarus is the last tune and the only instrumental inspired but the greek myth, I made this tune to give the feel of your flying towards the sun feeling freedom that sores beyond the earth.'
